Blogging to postpone studying!

Ok. So I don't feel like frying my brain just yet, so I thought I would blog. I don't really have much to blog about, but Lord knows I'm going to think of something. Well, this past weekend we had visitors! Trey, Ashley and Hannah Fuller came to visit the Svoboda's and new baby Caleb. We didn't get to see a whole lot of them, but it was fun while they were here. I love opening my (small) home to friends and family. It was also a lot of fun to have a baby in the house. Hannah is such a great little girl. Ashley had warned me that she was a little fussy because she had been teething, but Derek and I both agreed that she was great!

In other news, my class is getting a little bit better. I am starting to see that a lot of other people in my class are just as lost as I am. I'm not happy that they're also lost, but I am happy that I'm not alone! I'm starting to learn that I am just going to have to come home and study pretty much until I go to bed and the more I do it the more normal it feels. I realize now the pressure that a lot of people feel when there is a lot of work to be done and pressure to make great grades. However, I think I will maintain a little bit of my life and relationships and if it effects my grades, then so be it...it's worth it.

Derek and I have gotten involved in a community group at church...finally. It took us quite some time, mainly because we were a little hesitant to make a commitment to a group of people we knew nothing about. We were scared that we would visit a group and it wouldn't be a great match and we wouldn't have the nerve to leave. When Derek started at 5th3rd we knew he would be working with a guy that goes to Sojourn. He invited us to his community group and after we had visited we knew they were the group for us! I'm so glad we got involved before this semester started, because I would dare to say that Derek and I would just claim we were too busy and put it off for another year.

Life is good and ever so busy. I have a prayer request for those of you looking for something to pray about (haha). My friend, who will remain anon, and her husband are trying to start a family. They haven't been trying for very long, but just pray that they would remain patient and know and trust that the Lord is in control of this situation. Pray that the Lord would give them the desires of their heart and reveal himself through this situation and through the child they will surely bare. Children are such a blessing as I have gotten to see with the recent births of babies all around me, but it is vital for us to contemplate the reasons we want to bring children into this world. (and I am not saying that because she has the wrong motives, I kind of have to say it to remind myself to be honest).

Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. -Psalm 37:4

Ernie's new best friend....

the door! I know you ALL have a great interest is hearing about my dogs. Unfortunately they are one of my main forms of entertainment. Derek and I often play with Ernie. We chase him around the apartment, play hide and go seek (seriously), he and Buster battle in tug-a-war, and more. Sometimes, however, we (including Buster) don't feel like entertaining him anymore! We took pictures of our solution for this. I find it rather amusing because he walks back and forth, back and forth, tugs for a while, and then finally just gives up...

Tug, tug

Swinging the door back and forth

Sat his butt down, but still held on to the rope

your welcome for this very enlightening blog!

How Anatomy and Physiology makes me feel...

Well, all thats really going on in my life right now is my one and only/hardest/most overwhelming class I have EVER had. It's 4 days into my semester and I have half a mind to tuck tail and run in the other direction. I have inquired about a tutor and pray to God that someone gets back to me! I just wanted to post a picture that I felt expressed how I feel.

Back to School

Well, tomorrow I begin my new path to becoming a nurse. I start Anatomy and Physiology at 10:35 am in the morning. I must admit, I am very nervous and don't really know what to expect. I have known people who have become nurses and I know if they can do it surely to goodness I can do it. Schools are upping the stakes a little bit these days. There is a pretty substantial test that you have to take these days and at JCC only the top 20% of the class even have a chance to get in or something like that....so...if you think about it tomorrow (or tonight) feel free to say a little prayer for my nerves. After I payed my tuition the other day I had to go get the book from the bookstore. I have never bought a medical book before, but needless to say, they are not cheap. I brought it home and went out again later that evening. I took pictures of how Ernie felt about the books.

Notice the missing rings and the missing corners.

THANKS ERNIE!!! YOU NEVER LET ME DOWN!!
(p.s. this is why I want children...I've never seen ones that chews up books)

More pics of my Nephew!

Pictures from top left to right:
1. Baby is 3D (he already looks like my sister I think). It's a profile with his arm up in front of his face.
2. Baby's wee wee. More proof it was a boy.
3. Baby's little feet/toes.
4. Baby's profile.

Witty Title Here

I feel like I should post....even though I really have nothing to blog about. I've been getting over a little sickness. It started as a common cold and then moved into my lungs. I was aching in my lungs worse than I even had before. I told Derek that I thought I might have pneumonia, even though I had no idea what it felt like. Turns out, I had a mild case of it. I was just freaked out more that I actually had it after that was what I thought I had. Oh well...I'm feeling better now.

Today I went and helped my sister go through nearly 10 boxes of baby boy clothes that her friend gave her. It ended up being about 10 boxes of only newborn to 6 month old clothes. I don't know if you know or not, but that is a heck of a lot of clothes for that short amount of time...granted it had been used by twins. Never-the-less, we got through it all and only ended up with 2 boxes, which I thought was a little more reasonable. After we were done with the I helped her clean out the room she's going to use for his nursery and hang a few things around her apartment.

Derek hasn't been up to too much. We were looking at his school schedule the other night and it looks like everything should be set up for him to be done with school in December!! Yay! There was one class that he was going to have to talk to someone about because they don't offer it for like another year, but I feel sure they should be able to work through that. They can't expect him to wait around a year to complete one class!! He's really been working hard at the bank. I think he will be happy to start working part time versus full time. He complains all the time about not being able to play basketball, so I am definitely encouraging him to play intramural basketball starting in January. Make him be quiet about sill basketball!

My next blog will hopefully be pictures of Ernie at the dog park. I know, VERY exciting! Ernie has been the dog that I never saw myself owning. He has costs us nearly a thousand dollars in damages (not to us but to our stuff)....yes, really! He is very timid and skittish. You can barely take him on walks because he has issues with men, big things, big things that move, people on bicycles, and especially a black person on a bike. So about a month ago I signed him up for the dog park so he could get his exercise, run, and be exposed to other dogs and other people. I have been taking him almost everyday and it's been a real help to our relationship. I know it sound silly, but I was not fond of Ernie AT ALL before the dog park. Since we've been going he's getting braver around men, he is probably one of the sweetest dogs at the park, he never bites or plays too rough and I can let him play with the little puppies who come who still fragile. He listens to me so well when we go, while most dogs are going crazy all over the park, jumping all over people and getting in fights. Needless to say, things between Ernie and I are getting better! Yay for us.
